Cacao is more commonly seen as raw chocolate, but what you may not realise is that it is a delicious addition to your savoury dishes too when used in its Raw and Unsweetend form. Try this Antioxidant rich powder as a savour spice in this amazing Crusted Chicken Recipe. 


  • 1 Cup Almond Meal
  • 1 tblsp Paprika
  • 1 tblsp TRU RA Cold Pressed Cacao Powder
  • 1 tblsp Big Tree Farms Coconut Sugar
  • 1 tsp Himalayan Salt
  • 1tsp Oregano Powder
  • 1tsp Thyme Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Powder
  • Chilli Powder to taste (approx 1/2 tsp should do it)
  • 2 Fresh Minced Garlic Cloves
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Cup Almond Milk
  • 4 Free Range Chicken Breast Fillets
  • Banaban Coconut Oil for frying


Combine all the spices with the Almond Meal in a large bowl. In another bowl whisk the eggs and Almond Milk until well combined. Prepare your chicken to the size you want to serve, this may be in small strips or simply cut into schnitzel sized pieces. Now for the messy part... You need to dunk the Chicken into the egg mix first and then into the dry mix and make sure it is well coated. You can always go for a second dunk in both if you want a little extra crust. 

To cook you simply need to shallow fry the chicken. Pour enough Coconut Oil into the pan to cove the bottom at about a 1cm height. Once it oil is nice and hot simply place the chicken in the fry pan and flip until both sides are well browned and the chicken is cooked through. The time this will take will depend upon how thick you sliced the chicken to begin with. The smaller the pieces or the thinner they are, the quicker it will cook. 

Enjoy this with your favourite salad, with some Sweet Potato Mash, or even get creative with some Cauliflower Fried (no) Rice for a delicious, low carb, high protein meal.
